Banco Santander is implementing Ripple (XRP) for settling payments.

Banco Santander, the multinational bank and financial services company made a big announcement. It will be using Ripple (XRP) to settle payments and improve customer experience. All through its OnePay FX platform.

At the Swell conference in San Francisco, Ripple announced xRapid’s commercial launch. Many payment providers are going to install this as a solution, those include:

  • Cuallix
  • Mercury FX
  • Catalyst Corporate Federal Credit Union.

Another notable highlight of the event was the speech of Ed Metzger. He is the Head of Innovation at one of Ripple’s most notable partners – Banco Santander.

Metzger said that the bank will use Ripple’s ledger to settle all the payments with its OnePay FX platform. Moreover, quick international transfers will be possible thanks to implementing this solution.

According to Metzger, the addition of RippleNet into OnePay FX could increase the use of XRP. Therefore it could become prominent in places like Japan where XRP is emerging as the most popular cryptocurrency.

What is going the be the future of this implementation? It is very promising indeed.

Ripple (XRP) Forging Useful Banking Partnerships

Ripple has increased its adoption, especially within the traditional finance arena. It has already worked in new partnerships with many banks in the world. This approach is already yielding fruit on the technology adoption side. Many say the focus now for Ripple should be encouraging the use of the XRP cryptocurrency in tandem with its legacy Ripple Ledger.

The consensus among experts is that Ripple is taking a proactive approach to its expansion and adoption drive. Metzger said that unlike others, Ripple has been doing a great job in spreading themselves, chasing many adoption avenues.

ADA added to AtomicWallet

Great news for ADA, Atomic has added the cryptocurrency to the platform.

Atomic is a decentralized multi-cryptocurrency wallet available for Windows, Mac OS, and Linux. It uses BitTorrent technology for distributed order book and atomic swap technology for cross-chain custody free exchange. Atomicwallet also features instant exchange options – Changelly and ShapeShift.

World’s First Blockchain Phone Announced

Pundi X, made a new revolutionary announcement. Today at the XBlockchain Summit, PundiX presented one of their future products. They made the world’s first blockchain phone call on their new device: XPhone.

The XPhone does not need a centralized mobile carrier to function. It runs on the new Function X blockchain by Pundi X. This chain by the team, plans on solving many issues faced by traditional blockchains. Moreover, it could be solving the problems of scaling, the ability to publish DApp and achieve true decentralization. This blockchain could also revolutionize data transmission and bring a decentralized internet.

According to Function X, Function X is not only a public chain. It is a total decentralized solution. It consists of five essential components: Function X OS, Blockchain, Docker. IPFX, and the FXTP Protocol. All five have one purpose, decentralize all apps, website, communications, and data.

The Function X OS is based on the Android OS 9.0 and has backward compatibility with Android Apps. This makes it easy for developers with knowledge of the Android platform, to create DApps on the Function X blockchain.

XPhone OS will be currently available to phone manufacturers for testing. More information about Function X will be available on functionx.io on October 15th. The Function X blockchain, FXTP, IPFS, and XPhone will launch in Q2 2019.

Joseph Lubin, co-founder of Ethereum, will be the keynote speaker at South by Southwest

SXSW announces today that Joseph Lubin, the co-founder of Ethereum will be the keynote speaker at South by Southwest.

Joseph Lubin is the Founder of ConsenSys, and co-founder of blockchain platform Ethereum. Ethereum is a decentralized application platform incorporating a virtual machine. In essence, this virtual machine executes peer-to-peer contracts based on cryptocurrency micro-payments.

Lubin also joins other keynotes like:

  • Shirley Manson Lauren Mayberry (Music)
  • Marti Noxon (Film)
  • Kevin Systrom with Josh Constine (Interactive).

South by Southwest (SXSW) is an annual event. It conglomerates film, interactive media, and music festivals and conferences. It began in 1987, and has continued to grow in both scope and size every year.  Additionally, SXSW is run by the company SXSW, LLC which organizes conferences, trade shows, festivals, and other events.

Besides the three central South by Southwest festivals, the company runs other conferences. These are SXSW EDU, held in Austin and the me Convention, held in Germany.
